How Speedy Money collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our small-loan matching service.
Speedy Money (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates speedymoney.ca, a free service that matches Canadians with licensed lenders for small loans of $25 to $350. We are a referral service, not a lender. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us when you start an application or contact us — such as your name, email, phone number, province, the loan amount you want, and details about your employment income.
- Income and banking information via IBV — when you choose to verify your income through Instant Bank Verification, a secure, read-only connection confirms your income and account ownership. This is handled by our lending partners and their IBV provider; it does not run a credit check and does not affect your credit score.
- Information collected automatically — like your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and referring links, gathered through cookies and analytics tools so we can operate and improve the site.
How we use your information
- To match you with licensed Canadian lenders and refer your application on your behalf
- To respond to your questions and provide customer support
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve our website
- To detect and prevent fraud or misuse
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations
How we share your information
Because Speedy Money’s purpose is to connect you with a lender, we share the application details you provide with licensed Canadian lenders and lending networks in our referral partner network so they can assess and fund your request. We may also share information with:
- Service providers who help us run the site (hosting, analytics, security) under confidentiality obligations
- Authorities where required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only to fulfil the matching service you requested, or as described above.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies, including Google tools (such as Google Analytics via Site Kit), to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended if you do.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to meet legal and regulatory requirements, and to resolve disputes. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymize it.
Your privacy rights
Under PIPEDA you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw your consent or ask us to delete your information, subject to legal limits

How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections for data in transit. IBV income checks are read-only and cannot be used to move money. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information at every step.
Third-party websites
When you are matched, you may be directed to a lender’s or partner’s website to complete your application. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. Speedy Money is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
Children’s privacy
Our service is intended for adults who are the age of majority in their province or territory. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on this page.
